The luxury hotel named Palacio Nazarenas in Cuzco, Peru has officially opened. Transforming the former 16th century Carmelite convent into a 55-suite hotel was a long, four-year excavation project during which architects and archeologists uncovered several Inca artifacts.
These relics have been preserved for later use in hotel’s historical exhibition and talks of the area including Cuzco which is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Palacio Nazarenas is located in an exclusive area of downtown Cuzco, between the city’s central square, the Plaza de Armas, and the young, lively neighbourhood of San Blas. This former palace and convent has emerged from years of restoration inorder to become one of the city’s most exclusive Boutique hotels.
Step past walls of Inca stones and into a cloistered courtyard with an ancient fountain at its heart. Then be surprised as contemporary Cuzco comes to the fore: a fabulous spa, the city’s first outdoor pool and stylish restaurants serving cutting-edge local cuisine
This intimate urban Orient-Express retreat has just 55 suites, each enriched with oxygen and with its own private bar where guests or their private butler can create drinks accented with fresh ingredients grown at and around the hotel.
State-of-the-art suites are oxygenated to help guests get acclimated to being nearly 11,000-feet above sea level. The oversized bathtubs can be filled with dried Andean herbs from the hotel’s gardens to soothe any altitude discomfort or parched skin from the piercing sun.
You’ll be ready to embrace Palacio’s serene scene and enjoy the outdoor infinity pool—Cuzco’s first; the spa with a rich menu of aromatherapy with organic oils produced locally; or indulge yourself in Senzo Restaurant’s Peruvian cuisine with a modern touch, amazing flavours and textures using local seasonal ingredients, with authentic local herbs and edible flowers. This project has the cooperation of the INC (Peru’s National Institute of Culture).
Plugging in multiple dates from today’s opening through December, the Palacio comes at a premium rate, starting at $595 per night for a “Chica” Junior Suite. The rate includes several services such as a full breakfast buffet, free WiFi, butler service, use of iPhone and iPad, and a well-stocked minibar.
It is a family friendly hotel with special services for children, offering heaters and bottles for babies, activity books and a babysitter.
Enjoy the pleasures of this former convent transformed into an modern urban style luxury boutique hotel.
