Day 1. LIMA
Arrival to Lima, reception at the airport and transfer by private luxury vehicle to the deluxe 5* Miraflores Park Hotel or Marriott Hotel.
Day 2. LIMA (B, L & D)
After a leisurely breakfast, a private guided visit of colonial and modern Lima in a private minibus, including the cathedral, dating from 1654, the main square, which still houses the original bronze fountain built in 1650, and the San Francisco Convent and its catacombs. Known as the city of the kings, Lima was founded in 1535 by Pizarro and rebuilt in 1991, the same year that UNESCO declared it a world heritage site. One of the very few South American cities that preserve the colonial past, Lima was home to the Spanish viceroy during the time of the Spanish colonialists. After lunch, a visit to the Larco Museum. The museum includes several permanent exhibitions including the gold and silver gallery, showcasing the largest and finest collection of jewelry used by many notable rulers of pre-Columbian Peru. Return to your hotel. Dinner at a very exclusive residence.
Day 3. LIMA – AREQUIPA (B, L & D)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Arequipa. Arrival to this most beautiful city with panoramic views of the surrounding volcanoes. Private transfer to your hotel, the Casa Andina Private Collection. A brief visit around Arequipa before a delicious lunch. After lunch, continue with your tour before returning to your hotel. Dinner at your hotel.
Day 4. AREQUIPA – CHIVAY - COLCA CANYON (B, L & D)
After breakfast, private transfer by road to Chivay, the most important town in the Colca valley. The journey will take approximately 6 hours and will allow for some incredible vistas along the way including some fabulous mountain scenery. Arrival to the Colca Canyon and accommodation at the newly opened Las Casitas Del Colca Lodge, the new luxury lodge by the Orient Express chain and set in the Colca Valley itself. You may also relax in the hotel swimming pool or enjoy spa treatments at the Samay Spa. A la carte dinner at the hotel.
Day 5. COLCA CANYON (B, L & D)
After breakfast an early departure to descend into the valley to visit some of the villages, all of which have beautiful, colonial-style churches. Return to your lodge at Las Casitas Del Colca in the Colca Canyon for a delicious a la carte lunch. Free afternoon with a range of activities to choose from. A la carte dinner in the evening.
Day 6. COLCA CANYON - PUNO (B, L & D)
After breakfast, private road transfer by car to Puno, traversing the high altiplano of Peru. As the distance is a 7 hour journey, we will provide a fine picnic lunch. Arrival and welcome in Puno, lying on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Your residence for the next two nights will be the remoteTitilaka Inkaterra Hotel. Choice of excursions for today. Preparation for a choice of excursions tomorrow.
Day 7. PUNO (B, L & D)
Visit to the islands of Uros is made entirely of reeds and inhabited by the Aymara Uros people, they live in huts built on platforms of reeds, not more than 30-40 cms/1foot thick. Short hike on the islands, then the boat trip continues as far as the island of Taquile. Members of this self supporting Aymara community receive visitors in their colourful national costume and show them around the island. Taquile is also renowned for its fine, decorative weavings. Return to Puno and your hotel.
Day 8. PUNO – JULIACA – CUZCO (B, L & D)
Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital of the Incas. Transfer to your private residence, the unique colonial Casona, and accommodation in a Patio room. After a light lunch, embark on a guided tour of the centre of Cuzco including the Cathedral and the Qoricancha temple. Dinner at a luxurious residence.
Day 9. CUZCO- POROY - MACHU PICCHU (B, BR & D)
After breakfast a private transfer to the rail station at Poroy, for the luxurious Hiram Bingham train to Aguas Calientes. This Orient Express train is the most exclusive way to visit Machu Picchu and includes a hearty brunch aboard the train. Arrival to Aguas Calientes and transfer to your unique residence in the cloud forests. Once you have checked-in, you will board the bus with your guide for the short ride up to Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca citadel. A private guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Return to your hotel for accommodation and a delicious dinner.
Day 10. MACHU PICCHU – CUZCO (B, L & D)
Opportunity to return to the site and enjoy a wonderful sunrise over Machu Picchu or if you prefer, enjoy a good rest and return mid morning. Time for some private reflection. A guide is not normally provided as we feel that Machu Picchu requires a certain amount of self discovery to be fully understood. However, your guide will always be available if you would like to visit various other sites in the sanctuary such as the temple of the moon or the Inca’s bridge. Lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge restaurant before returning back down to Aguas Calientes by bus. Some free time before boarding the Hiram Bingham train in the early evening with your guide. Arrival to Poroy after 9PM, reception and transfer to Cusco, the ancient city of the Incas. Transfer to your private residence.
Day 11. CUZCO – URUBAMBA (B, L & D)
Transfer in your private vehicle and embark on a one hour thirty minute drive to the Sacred Valley before transferring to your hotel in the Urubamba. Rest and enjoy the serene location of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Rest and enjoy the serene location of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Enjoy a good lunch before continuing to the ruins at Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that was not defeated by the Spanish. Return to your villa for dinner and accommodation.
Day 12. URUBAMBA (B, L & D)
After a fresh breakfast a private full-day excursion to the most important sites of the Urubamba. The first visit will be a brief visit to the ancient Inca market town of Pisac. Here you will see all the local produce of the area and purchase some handicrafts, textiles or ornaments. We will then drive above the market town to see the infrequently visited Pisaq ruins, one of the finest and largest in the entire valley. After lunch in a very special hacienda, return to your private villa in the Urubamba. Dinner and accommodation.
Optional Day 13. CUZCO –CHOQUEQUIRAO (B, L & D)
An optional day allowing for a visit to the ‘other Machu Picchu’, Choquequirao. Please ask for details of this ultra special option.
Day 14. CUZCO (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and check in for your return flight to Lima.
