2025 Authentic Shamanic & Spiritual Peru

Lima - Cuzco - Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu
8 days / 7 nights.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Lima

Late night arrival to Lima and accommodation at the airport hotel.

Day 2: Lima - Cuzco (B)

After breakfast, take the flight to Cuzco. Arrival to Cuzco, reception and transfer to your hotel. Free morning. In the afternoon, a guided visit of the four ruins nearby, Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay, with our Shaman and guide who will explain the spiritual significance of each site and will perform a ritual and cleansing and offer personalised spiritual guidance for each participant. Return to your hotel.

Day 3: Sacred Valley (B & Box L)

After breakfast, a trip to the Sacred Valley with our Shaman and guide. The trip will include a visit to Pisaq. The village of Pisac was founded during Colonial times. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the Indians barter their products, and artisans from all over the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique reproductions and jewellery. On Sundays, it is also the meeting place for the local Mayors of the region, who come dressed in their traditional costumes, to attend morning mass. After the market, a visit to the ruins above Pisaq where our Shaman will perform a plant ceremony for all participants. Medicine, personalised attention during the ceremony, cleansing and explanation of the site will be offered. Lunch box provided. Return to your hotel in Cuzco in the afternoon.

Day 4: Cuzco - Machu Picchu (B)

Transfer to the railway station in Poroy for the Expedition train to Aguas Calientes. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. After check-in, a guided visit of the most spectacular ancient city in the world. This fabulous city contains houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square; and all connected by narrow roads and steps that are surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour, free time to enjoy this spiritual wonder. Opportunity for a guided trek (approx 1 hour) up to the sungate (Intipunku), which is a part of the Inca Trail, for a magical view of the sanctuary or alternatively an unguided climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, with a magnificent view of the whole Sanctuary (recommended for fit individuals only).Return to your hotel in the afternoon.

Day 5: Machu Picchu - Cuzco (B)

After breakfast, return to Machu Picchu. Afternoon return train to Cuzco and transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: Cuzco (B)

A visit to the Moray Inca terraces located close to the Urubamba valley. These four fabulous terraces resembling an amphitheatre are incredible examples of early agricultural experimentation. As each level of terrace exhibits a marked temperature variation, several different microclimates are formed allowing for the growth of a wide variety of crops. Many types of cereals and products were grown here including corn and potato. The tour continues to the bizarre landscape of Maras, site of over 3000 separate salt pans. Of pre-Inca origin, these salt pans form from an underground source. Return to Cuzco and accommodation at your hotel.

Day 7: Rainbow Mountain Trek (B & L)

Today is a full day and quite challenging. We will pick you up early from your hotel and set out on a drive through the South Valley. The drive to the trailhead at Quesiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 ft) is 3 hours long. Once we reach the Inkintuyoc bridge, we will have breakfast. We then start off on our hike, following a lovely stream with horses as backup transport. You will be immediately surprised by literally herds of alpacas and llamas. We will have consistent views of the Ausangate Mountain. We will hike through villages and interact with the local residents. We will stop for a box lunch along the trail. Back on the trail, you will encounter more of the traditional elements of this trek. This includes potato fields and unique fauna. We have the prospect of seeing chinchillas and vicunas. Vicunas are the only non-domesticated animal of the llama family in Peru. Many red mountains are also a highlight of this portion of the hike. After a total hike of approximately 5 hours, we finally reach our destination, what we came to see the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft). After getting over its beauty, you will have time to explore the area. You will have time to take pictures and enjoy the setting. We will spend approximately 30 minutes at the top. We then hike downhill the way we came. The hike will take 4 to 5 hours. A van will be waiting for you when we return. We will embark on the 3 hour drive back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel. Approximate arrival time is between 8 and 9 PM.
