Paraguay & Argentina Essentials Tour
9 days / 8 nights.

Arrive at Asunción International Airport. Asunción; Paraguay's energetic capital and largest city, is built on unassuming hills above the east bank of Paraguay River. Upon clearing customs and Immigration, you are met and transferred to your accommodation for check-in.
Day 2. Asuncion (B)Breakfast followed by a complete tour of the city of Asunción, a city with a picturesque combination of modern and colonial architecture, including the city center and residential areas. We will visit: The Independence House, The Cathedral,The Government Palace, The Railway Station, visiting the oldest steam locomotive in South America, The National Pantheon of Heroes, where the remains of the greatest heroes of the History of Paraguay lie, Avenida Mariscal López, also known as the Embassy Avenue, ending at the popular La Recova artisan market. After the visit, return to your hotel.
Day 3. Asuncion - Encarnacion (B)After breakfast, private transfer to the City of Encarnacion, (360 km). Arrival, check in and accommodation.
Day 4. Encarnacion (B)Breakfast and transfer Trinidad to visit the Jesuit reductions of Trinidad del Paraná and Jesús de Tavarangué. Trinidad is one of the most interesting and suggestive Jesuit ruins among them all, its main architects were the fathers Juan Bautista Prímoli, of Milan and the Catalan Jose Grimau. Not fully completed, this mission possessed one of the largest and most beautiful churches. Jesús de Tavarangué is almost in front of Trinidad, its church did not get to be finished due to the expulsion of the Jesuits of the country. Its architectural conception was totally different from the others, in Moorish style, unique in all the reductions. Both Reductions have been declared Universal Heritage of Humanity in 1993 by UNESCO. After this visit, return to the hotel and accommodation.
Day 5. Encarnacion - Ciudad del Este - Foz de Iguazú - Puerto Iguazú (B)Breakfast and early departure to the east of the country, Ciudad del Este, on the triple border area (270 km) arrival and transfer to visit the Monday Falls National Park with a wonderful panoramic view of the waterfalls, 45 meters tall and approximately 120 meters wide. The name "Monday" (pronounced "mon-da-ugh") originates from Guarani language and means: "robbed river". In the afternoon we'll be visiting the Itaipu Power Dam (Paraguayan side), the Largest dam in South America, with more power than 10 nuclear power stations it has supplied the second largest city on the planet with zero-emission electricity since 1984. At the end of the afternoon, transfer to Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, vía Brazil. Drop off at your hotel.
Day 6. Iguazu Falls (B)After breakfast, enjoy a full day's excursion of the Argentinean side of Iguazu allows for a close appreciation. Set in a subtropical rain forest reserve of over 180,000 hectares, Iguazu is home to jaguar, puma, caiman and over 400 species of bird. The most voluminous falls in the world and more than three times the width of the Niagara Falls, the falls lie on the three borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Also enjoy a boat trip up to the Falls. Overnight accommodation in Iguazu.
Day 7. Iguazu - Buenos Aires (B)After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a city tour of perhaps the most cosmopolitan metropolis in South America. Most of the population is of European descent and the city is reminiscent of Paris. It is situated on the Rio de la Plata, and as its name suggests, it is the city of good winds. The tour will include a visit to the Plaza de Mayo, the hub of the city centre and where many public buildings such as the Catedral Metropolitana can be found. At the east end, you will find the Casa Rosada presidential palace with the famous balcony from which Juan and Evita Peron greeted the masses. A visit will also be made to the Teatro Colon, found at the intersection of Cirrito and Tucuman the world-class opera house that opened in 1908 with a presentation of Aida. It seats 2500 spectators and offers standing room for another 1000. You shall also visit La Boca, Buenos Aires' most colourful neighbourhood. A final visit to Recoleta, a very fashionable area where you can visit the fine arts museum, called Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, and the city's gardens of Plaza Alvear and Plaza Francia. The latter hosts the largest crafts fair in the city every Sunday.
Day 8. Buenos Aires - Colonia - Buenos Aires (B)Today a full day visit to Colonia in Uruguay. You will take the crossing over the Rio del Plata with your guide and enjoy a visit to this charming, UNESCO heritage site. Return to Buenos Aires.
Day 9. Buenos Aires (B)After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
