You will also visit the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 3. CUSCO (Breakfast included)

After breakfast, as part of your program to visit a local organization working toward achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by the U.N. you will have the chance to visit Ccaccaccollo, where the Quechua women are running the local market.
Sustainability is integrated in their roots and tradition - they source Andean materials from plants and insects to dye their clothes. These sacred Inca traditions survived the mid-16th century conquest by the Spaniards but suffered greatly from the tourism boom in the 1990s. This led to an economic imbalance and caused women and children to sell souvenirs to tourists or beg on the streets, rather than continuing their traditional textile businesses. In 2005, Planeterra - a non-profit foundation launched the Women's Weaving Co-op in Ccaccaccollo. Local women relearned weaving techniques and, with the guidance of the foundation's experts, and started selling handmade alpaca clothing. Learn about the program before returning to Cusco.

Day 4. CUSCO CHOCOLATE WORKSHOP (Breakfast)

After breakfast, you will take this chocolate-lovers workshop and learn how to make your very own chocolate from start to finish. Learn about the chocolate-making process with this hands-on experience beginning with the cocoa tree and finishing with your very own chocolate creations. Discover the history of cocoa in Peru and learn why it is one of the top chocolate producers in the world. Take a workshop to learn about the chocolate-making process Discover the history of Cocoa in Peru from your chocolatier. Make your very own chocolate creations from start to finish. Free afternoon before your briefing on the upcoming Inca trail.

Day 5. CUSCO - ROYAL INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU (All meals included)

Early wake up in order to catch the train headed to Machu Picchu. You will ride taking in stunning views of the mountains all around, with snow-capped peaks in the distance as you slowly lose elevation and head into high altitude cloud forest. Your destination, the Machu Picchu gateway town of Aguas Calientes, is reachable only by train or air and is nestled among stunning steep mountains shrouded in cloud forest.
Here, you will start the Royal Inca trail, for which you will alight from the train before reaching Aguas Calientes. You will commence your hike (with about 6-8 other trekkers) by crossing a hanging bridge over the Urubamba River to approach the small but interesting Inca archaeological complex of Cachabamba. After a brief visit of this site you will begin a four hour ascent to the ruins of Wiñay Wayna 2700m/8829 ft; an important Inca spiritual site, and one of the finest of all Inca ruins. At this point the trail joins with the main Inca Trail. From here you will be walking on Inca pavement. The Inca Trail cuts across the ridge above Machu Picchu to finally reach Intipunku or Gate of the Sun, at 2700m/8829 ft. From here the trail winds downhill (45 minutes) into the lost citadel of Machu Picchu, at 2400m/7872. Arrival to Machu Picchu at approximately 16.00 and accommodation at the hostel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 6. MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO (Breakfast)

Today, you will enjoy a full tour of Machu Picchu, the most incredible ancient city in the world. Built by the Inca Pachacutec, and comprising stone blocks fitted with masterful precision, Machu Picchu harmoniously blends into the mountain landscape. There are many theories as to the origins behind Machu Picchu but three of the most popular ideas include a temple to the sun, a fortress against the jungle inhabitants or a sanctuary for the Incas. This fabulous city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. Return to Cusco by train and transfer to your hostel.

Day 7. CUSCO (Breakfast included)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home.
